Submission for Valletta Film Festival 2018 open on 1 November 2017

Submissions for the fourth edition of the Valletta Film Festival to be held from Friday 8 to Sunday 17 June 2018 will open on Wednesday 1 November 2017.

The submission process is open for the competitive sections of the film festival. The competitive sections of the festival are open for feature films, documentaries and short films completed after 1 July 2017 that have not yet been exhibited online or in Malta.

Feature films and documentaries have to have a duration over 60 minutes. The duration for short films is limited to 25 minutes including credits.

The early-bird submission deadline for the third edition of the Valletta Film Festival is 31 December 2017. The regular submission deadline for the third edition of the Valletta Film Festival is 28 February 2018. Late entries will be accepted until 31 March 2018.

Submissions may not be in work-in-progress form; works that are not final cuts will not be allowed entry. The Film Grain Foundation charges the following entry fees:

• Early Bird Entry Fee for Features Films and Documentaries – € 25
• Early Bird Entry Fee for Short Films – € 10

• Regular Entry Fee for Features Films and Documentaries – € 30
• Regular Entry Fee for Short Films – € 15

• Late Entry Fee for or Features Films and Documentaries – € 35
Late Entry Fee for Short Films – € 20

The submission fee is waived for films that have 50% or more of the film footage shot in Malta. No other waivers or exceptions are granted.

Films can be submitted through the Festival’s partner submissions platforms WITHOUTABOX or REELPORT.

The Film Grain Foundation will announce the official selection by Friday 25th May 2018.
