‘FUOCOAMMARE‘, a documentary about the neighbouring island of Lampedusa, this year’s Golden Bear winner at Berlinale will be shown at Valletta Film Festival on Wednesday 8 June 2016 as part of Islanders.
Directed by Gianfranco Rosi, the film tells the story of an island that for the past twenty years has become the frontline of Europe’s migrant crisis.
The Islanders section of Valletta Film Festival is a non-competitive selection open to productions that are mainly set on islands or produced by filmmakers that are citizens or residents of an island. Other films in this section will be announced in the coming days.
Tickets for this and other films will go on sale in May. Festival passes giving access to all screenings and events at the festival are on sale already.
