5 MASTER CLASSES
During the week of the Valletta Film Festival, the Film Grain Foundation will be organising 5 Master Classes covering several aspects of filmmaking from funding to production, marketing, cinematography and design.
5 British film professionals will be visiting Valletta to deliver each a 2 hour masterclass about their area of expertise. Attendees will then have the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers.
Mia Bays, an independent producer and marketing consultant that worked the Best Foreign Language Oscar winning film ‘Tsotsi‘ will be delivering a masterclass on crowd-funding and the production of films on micro budgets on Tuesday 16th June 2015.
A masterclass about film marketing and distribution will be delivered by Peter Dunne, a veteran marketing specialist that worked at Warner Bros and Dreamworks and marketed Oscar winners ‘Gladiator‘, ‘American Beauty’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan‘. The masterclass will be held on Wednesday 17th June 2015.
Emmy and BAFTA winner and oscar nominee Eve Stewart will be in Valletta on Thursday 18th June 2015 to provide insight on how a film is designed by describing her experience on the Oscar winning film ‘The King’s Speech‘, ‘Les Miserables‘ and ‘Topsy-Turvy‘.
A day later, on Friday 19th June 2015 Sundance Award winner, cinematographer Lol Crawley will give a masterclass on Cinematography. Crawley worked on films like ‘45 years‘, ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom‘ and ‘Four Lions‘ and several successful TV shows, documentaries and shorts.
All masterclasses will be held daily at 1700hrs at St. James’ Cavalier, Valletta. Each class costs €15.
