Commenting about this announcement, Oliver Mallia, one of the founders of Film Grain Foundation and co-organiser of the festival said that “the 3-year Cultural Partnership Agreement with Arts Council Malta will permit Film Grain Foundation to implement part of its five-year strategy so that by 2020, Valletta Film Festival will be recognised as a premiere film festival in the Mediterranean region exhibiting over 50 films per year and hosting hundreds of film professionals for specialised film-industry events.”
Valletta Film Festival, is Malta’s largest film event held annually in June. Organised by Film Grain Foundation, the festival showcases world cinema at a number of open air venues and theaters around Valletta. Over 15,000 people attended the first two editions of the festival that exhibited 78 feature films and documentaries and 48 short films.
Oliver Mallia thanked Arts Council Malta for the support and added that the members of Film Grain Foundation “look forward to working together to make world cinema more accessible to local audiences and Maltese film more visible to the world”.
