Valletta Film Lab is a training and development platform open to filmmakers from Malta and other small nations around Europe.

The main aim of Valletta Film Lab is to help filmmakers develop their feature length projects – fiction or documentaries. Each year the lab selects talented young director-writers and producers who are at the advanced stages of writing their first and second full-length feature film or are currently developing their first or second feature documentary to spend a week in the smallest Capital City of the European Union to develop their projects under the mentorship of top script consultants, film directors and cinematographers and other industry professionals.

Documentary workshops are held annually in March whereas the fiction workshops are organised in December.

The first workshop dedicated to documentaries took place in March 2019. A Scriptwriting Workshop will be held on 8th-13th December 2019. Applications for this workshop are now open. For more information please read here.
